Dear Friends … Let Santa pick you up
Christmas is upon us. I’m not thinking about the busyness. I’m thinking about the love. There is no taking the Christ out of Christmas–regardless of religion. And I think we can all agree that Christ demonstrated love at its finest.
I remember his words, “Let he who is without sin, cast the first stone,” and “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” That’s the kind of love we need. It’s the only kind of love; but sometimes we forget, and pass off something less. We’re only human; and I want to believe we’re doing the best we can.
But Christmas is a shining example of what happens when we all get on the same team. Somehow, we’re a little more understanding, forgiving, empathetic … loving. So, here’s to Christmas! Here’s to you, to us … believing, acting, and loving as one.
Merry Christmas, with all of my heart, to you and yours. May it be truly Christmas all year in our hearts … and, thus, in our lives. And if I may be so bold, I love you. God loves you. And so does Santa! I know … this is my very own Santa! … More
Your chance to bounce higher …
Disasters, like the hurricanes we’ve endured here in Florida, call us together. They shift our focus to what we have in common — and inspire the strength of alliance.
Just for a moment, we trade places with somebody. We realize that we share the same planet, the same economy, and the same DNA. We realize that roles are simply roles, subject to change. “Be nice to people on your way up because you meet them on your way down,” said Jimmy Durante.
But when it seems like things can’t get worse, and they do, they just got better. It’s when the ball hits bottom that it starts to bounce up again.
“I don’t measure a man’s success by how high he climbs but how high he bounces when he hits bottom,” said General George S. Patton. We may be unable to defy gravity … but we can sure enough rebound. The best way to bail somebody else out may be to let him find out what he’s made of when he hits the ground.
Now is always the best time to discover who we are and start the ascension.
Many don’t know how far they can climb. They may think they just got lucky the first time up.… More
A favorite way to feel love …
We can think of love as everything good, and learn to feel it, and trust it … even when it doesn’t match the picture we’ve conjured up.
Scientists now study and measure oxytocin, or the feel-good hormone, that accompanies love. It’s found naturally when Johnny feels joyful, connected, hopeful, loved. And scientists can watch as it broadens Sally’s outlook and encourages her growth. It keeps babies, who are dependent on caregivers, alive!
Love literally nurtures, sustains, energizes, and inspires you to be your best self, to be bigger than you thought was big. It reduces fear and suspicion, without reducing your ability to calculate risk.
We can feel it with strangers, acquaintances, friends, siblings, and parents. But, perhaps, our favorite way to feel love is with somebody who is intimately ours, ours to touch in private places, who reaches the deepest part of who we are, who knows us down to the core, and loves us no matter what. … More
