I won’t replay the risks of AI. I will simply address the most dangerous risk. The more we rely on AI to think for us, the more it influences our choices. And the more we allow AI to choose for us, the more we limit our uniquely human experience and betray our learning based on that experience.
If we feed what’s artificial more than we feed what is real, the artificial will outgrow us; not because it is superior, but because we treat it as though it is.
What may seem obvious at this point, is that we, as a society, have always done this. We have always risked what is real for what we could measure and earn a gold star for.
I believe that makes AI the perfect nudge. May we manage AI, and use its benefits, without replacing our own. And may we forever value and nurture what is real.
In love,
PS: To be clear, the ultimate risk of artificial intelligence is using it so much that we lose what is real.
