I love to jog barefoot on the beach. When I don’t make it to the beach, I’m grateful for a treadmill in the gym. But it’s a stationary machine. It’s tedious. I’d rather jog in the surf than look at the river. And I miss my seagulls and the great blue that says, “You’ve got this!” I was still doing it, but the hard way. I struggled to forge ahead, trying to look away from the clock, and trying to muster the strength to stay with the pace, without clinging to the machine, for all those minutes. But I caught myself. And I am learning to stay present, even on the treadmill.
I had to stop thinking about how many more minutes, and focus on the present moment. Still working on the NOW. But I no longer feel daunted. Another 15 seconds, another 30 seconds, even another 60 seconds, I can believe for.
We can only do one minute at a time. When I am spent and trying to do 5 minutes at time, I feel overwhelmed. I can resort to sheer grit. But I have lived enough of my life that way. I want to stay present and smile OR choose to do something else.
Are you with me? You’ve got this!
Love smiles,
and I’ll see you at the beach!
