Do you ever feel like there is no escaping the noise? Where is it all coming from?
Perhaps most of it comes from inside our own heads. But it’s fueled by what we feed it. And we can turn off the external audio. Yes, we have access to off buttons. But how do we turn off the internal chatter?
We don’t. But we can turn the volume down and catch our breath. Then, we can breathe through it. We can change the channel; we can make a conscious choice about what serves us. We can even delete the obsolete programming. We can begin to think for ourselves, rather than continue to rehearse the negative programming installed by caregivers, teachers, and other members of society, some of them well-meaning. We can trust what we know, rather than continue to listen to what we fear. And we can make that knowing the new default.
We’re not really at the mercy of the noise. We can wake up.
