We can make a simple choice seem overwhelming by thinking we have to see the whole picture and figure out all the steps before we choose. But choice is the first step. And when we know it’s the right choice, we can make it and trust the outcome. Honoring my mom’s wishes to take her home with us in the face of opposition was such a choice.
We had to take the first step for the second step to appear. And, voila, we were prepared for it! No matter how monumental the task, the first step is a choice. And that choice empowers you, but it does more than empower YOU. You have resources. You have pull, connections, nothing less than magic at your beck and call. Don’t get scared, thinking you have to do it all yourself.
For the sake of discretion, I’m going to jump over hundreds of dirty diapers here. I want to tell you that Mom’s rose bushes are growing outside her window. Sam keeps her in tulips. Jigsaw puzzles and frozen fruit bars are new favorites. And as of today, 53 days later, Mom is prescription-free! She’s playing ball, living life. And if she moves to heaven tomorrow, I dare say she’ll transition with a satisfied smile.
Let’s play ball, let’s love life, one choice, one step, at a time!
