We go for what we think we’re worth …

The Reward Theory of Attraction says we are most attracted to those who give us maximum rewards at minimum cost. And four of the most compelling sources of reward are:

Proximity: Frequent contact

Similarity: Shared attitudes, interests, values and experiences

Self-disclosure: Intimate sharing, trust, and knowing

Physical attractiveness: Beauty

But the Expectancy-Value Theory says we weigh the value of the reward against our expectation of success.

My theory, then, is when we know our true value, we go for what we want, with the intention of success.
