Love or Ego?
How do we distinguish between love and ego? Love whispers. The ego screams. Love is at peace. The ego rehashes, trying to justify and blame. Love is unthreatened. The ego is in a hurry; it wants to run. But we can take a deep breath and trust love. … More
The quest and the sabbath are ours …
Dear Friends,
Nineteen years ago, with no particular religious affiliation, I declared Sunday to be my “sabbath.” I wanted to breathe, to be still, to listen, to refuel, to gather the at-risk fragments of me. I wanted to let solitude center me so I could try my wings again.
Today, we are part of a global society that needs a “sabbath.” We’ve known this. Perhaps we’ll impose our own sabbath as needed, to renew our compassion, our wisdom, our strength, our ingenuity, our faith, our discernment, and our courage to act on the truth.
The quest, however epic, is ours. We are intended to be the hero … and the keeper of the sabbath.

When we let go of the notion that we should be able to pull off the happily-ever-after without some rough landings, we’re free to be who we are! Then, somebody else can tune into us! And that IS the fairytale … two people who truly know each other, who aren’t denying the pitfalls, but rather learning to navigate through them! Two people who face each other and life with open eyes, whether they just landed in the dirt or they’re soaring through blue skies.
If you want happily-ever-after skies, learn to hit the dirt and brush it off, without letting it define you. Practice getting up! Way up! … More
