Love is the gift we were given and the gift we give. It is the only true gift. It is everything. Without it, no matter what we have, it falls short. Still, we pursue dead-ends, trying to get enough pretty, enough sex, enough money. But there is not enough to make us feel the way we want to feel. Good enough.
Christmas reminds us that we ARE enough; because it reminds us that love is enough. In its warmth, we feel permission to connect, to wish a stranger, “Merry Christmas,” to give the homeless man money for food, knowing he may not buy food.
And when we connect with each other, we also connect with our source. We connect with the force for good. We connect with our essence of love. We don’t just feel good enough. We know we are.
